The city is at its most spectacular when the sun goes down and the skyscrapers begin to illuminate the harbour, whilst pubs, clubs and night markets draw in thousands every night of the week. There are plenty of choices on offer when deciding what to do at night in Hong Kong. Lan Kwai Fong & Soho

 

Lan Kwai Fong & Soho are at the center of Hong Kong’s nightlife, buzzing with fashionable locals and trendy tourists seeking a cool place to hang out and enjoy a few drinks or a bite to eat once the sun goes down. Lan Kwai Fong is a famous cobble-stoned maze of restaurants, bars and nightclubs located in the heart of the Central Business District. Surrounded by the glass and steel of nearby skyscrapers this is one of Hong Kong’s loudest hangouts. Go further up to slope from Lan Kwai Fong or take the famous Central-Mid-Levels escalators to reach Soho, a trendy area packed with hip bars, restaurants and boutiques. Symphony of Lights – Victoria Harbour

 

The Hong Kong Symphony of Lights is the world's largest permanent light and sound show, according to the Guinness World Records. Every night at 8:00 PM, this nightly spectacle combines interactive lights on 45 key buildings on both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon with musical effects to illuminate the skyline and showcase the vibrance and glamorous night vista of the city.
 
 

Temple Street Night Market

 

If you're in the mood for history and culture, this night market in Kowloon (A 5-minute walk from the Lodge) is a real treat. Built during the Qing Dyansty, it was named after a temple which was built on the site. Even now, this local treasure is so steeped in atmosphere that it has served as the backdrop to many memorable movies. As described by Lonely Planet, you’ll find your average mix of fortune-tellers, herbalists and, occasionally, some free, open-air Cantonese opera performances. If none of those things are what you’re looking for specifically, don’t worry, there are more than a hundred stalls with colorful lights in the market selling low-priced merchandise and food items. Trinkets, tea ware, electronics, watches, menswear, jade and antiques are scrutinised and haggled over, while claypot rice, seafood, noodles and other treats are consumed with gusto. Temple Street Night Market is an enduring example of the theatre and festivity of a Chinese market, and it’s on show nightly. Deciding what to do at night in Hong Kong has never been so easy.
 
 

Wan Chai & Causeway Bay

 

Wan Chai's nightlife used to be Hong Kong's most popular, although now overtaken by Central and Soho. However, the area is far from lifeless and still offers plenty of entertainment opportunities. Start of at Wooloomooloo, one of the city’s most magnificent rooftop bars. Offering views of Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Happy Valley, this bar has consistently been one of Hong Kong’s favourite spots for admiring city views while sipping drinks – and perhaps even enjoying a prime Australian cut of steak. For a pub experience closer to the ground, head over to Lockhart Road, which is known for its dozens of bars and cafes with great happy hour deals.
To get a taste of Causeway Bay's nightlife, head over to SKYE restaurant and rooftop bar. This new and spacious venue at The Park Lane Hotel in Causeway Bay, next to IKEA, offers stunning harbor views all around as well as a great view of the luscious greens of neighbouring Victoria Park. Causeway Bay features numerous other (rooftop) bars and restaurants, but this area is also the place to be if you prefer to indulge in some shopping as a nighttime activity. Most shops open late until at least 10 pm, with local favourites such as the H&M Flagship store opening until midnight during weekends.
